I train dogs - and drove to PA this past weekend, my 2000 explorer XLS started to chug so to speak, and was losing power - it was a loss of 2 spark plugs - but then my check engine light came on -
I taped up the spark plug wires and got me to where I needed to be..
Aftermath,
A ford dealership in PA told me they fixed what was broken - but not what was breaking the items, My ECF (emission control filter) was completly melted, thats located near the intake, the right hand side hose was destroyed and melted as well, when those melted - they fell on 2 spark plug wires (4 & 5) and shorted them out. They suggested it was a back up in the catalytic converter - but then I drove the truck 9 hours home the very next day and didn't have any problems.
I still haven't had any problems - but has anyone else saw this yet? Or may have a good clue to WTF is going on. Ford wants to charge me an arm and a leg around here (Michigan) to even look at it and I am afraid they are gonna tell me nothing is wrong or miss the problem.
