usually you can just go to www.carfax.com and look around and find a free vin check. I think it is usually towards the bottom of their main page. Worth a try.

Nah, they've since done away with most of the free record checks and make you pay now...the only thing that is free now is a lemon check...

your best bet is to watch your local news and shows like dateline or something when you hear a story that a story about used car fraud will be shown. most of the time when the news stations run these stories they post a link for a free carfax report for a limited time. i hope you find one. ken
