Hello!

I was recently the recipient of a 1998 Ford Explorer 4.0 form my Uncle. My wife loves the truck [dont know why, she owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder lol but she likes the ford better ]

Only problem she has with it is how wobbly it is. I have air shocks on the back and I have pumped them up just a bit, that removed some of the wobble but its still just a narrow little truck.

Once I get a body lift on it and raise the suspension a bit, I plan on putting the 33x12.5's from the Nissan on this ford before we sell the nissan but i=until then I was thinking of just throwing some spacers on there. I realize spaces cause wear, but no more than large tires do and when I put the tires on there the spacers will come off.

Question 1: from what I have read my 33's which have a 3.25 backspacing or something close to that should fit fine?

question 2: I would like to make this thing as wide as possible until I get the suspension work done[which could be a long time , just had a major surgery]
without making it look terrible stupid. would 2" spacers be too much? or should I stick with 1.5". they cost about the same and I want as much width for stability as I can get, I just do not want the car looking like some homie ride [lol] . Has anyone ever used 2" spacers with 235/75r15's? they are already inset a little bit so I do not think they will stick out to far. the tires are only 9.5".

I used 2" spacers on my old Cherokee my wife drove and it worked great, I jsut have never owned a Ford Explorer.
1" or 2" inch spaces for temporary width and stability.

Thanks in advance!!

I'd go for the 2" on the 235's.

thanks for the advice. I was thinking the same thing. Once I went out and looked again at the car I noticed that 2" would not even really stick my tires out past the wheel well. that's perfect. No worries about safety and emissions.
