i have a Yamaha Waverunner IIIGP, i was wondering if anyone else has one of these? and if so do you have any mods done, such as new impeller, intake grate, things like that. and also, what free mods that can be done to the engine to give it more power.

Yep, have/had a few.

I used to race offshore endurance a few years back. HAd a blast.

Anyway, the best mod you can do for the money, I think, is a custom impellar and intake grate. Check out Impros on the web and see if they have something that you are interested in.

I stayed away from modfiications on the motor for reliabilty reasons. Most of the guys I knew that had tweeked thier motors were always tuning or working on them to get them to run right. Lot's of power, but a lot of effort to get them working right.

The biggest improvement I made was the impeller. I had then change the pitch so I could hook up out of the hole. I didn't care to much about top end speed because 80% of your riding is at speeds below 40. It's how fast you get there that makes it fun. Made jumping wave a lot of fun too.

Good luck.

I hate to sound like I'm just trying to sell you something, but our AMSOIL (Explorer Sponsor) TCR Series 2000 racing 2-cycle (TCW3) is very popular.
It retains 17% more torque during high temperature operation.

I get a lot of comments over Yamalube and Bel Ray.
It's what Mike Larocco uses and most the Supercross tour.

I sell it fior $115 for the 4-gallon case. Bel Ray sells for around $140.

Here is some information on it for you.

Tarheel, I love jetskis. I own a '98 Seadoo. I would you into www.rivayamaha.com for some ideas. Hope that helps.

The Riva Yamaha/Honda dealer is about 5 minutes from me, thats where we got our waverunners and mods from. Awsome place and we know some of the guys so we get sweet prices on everything. They have the best performance parts for Yamaha ski's.

TarHeel085 - We have two Yamaha GP1200R's, mine has Riva's Stage 2 power kit and is extremely fast and powerful. We also still have two Yamaha Waveraiders, one has a seized engine though thanks to my moms friend lol and I have to replace the starter on the other.

Doesn't really apply to this thread but we also have a Yamaha LS2000 jetboat (same engines as our GP's) and just got back from our lakehouse today after chilling for a week. We had it running non stop with everything from skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, surfing all day and it was fine, Yamaha rules:D
