I was wondering if anyone has one of those stealth boxes. If so where and how much can i get one? And how hard was it to install?

If you mean the sub box that goes in the passenger rear storage compartment... Yes.. We have one.. We use the MTX thunderform.. (plastic).. but there are other materials available from different companies.

The only problem we had with the install was the plastic clips used to hold the side panel on had never been removed and shattered when they came off. Luckily, an Ace Hardware not only had them.. but even had the correct color (blue).. Otherwise this was one of the easier portions of our system install..

Here is a closeup of the box in our rig..

I have the JL Audio Stealthbox in my system. I removed the sub that came with it (the lower end 10W1) and put in their high end 10W6. The sub was $220 and the box was $380, but I bought them at the same time as the rest of my equipment, so the guy gave me a good deal. It pounds and sounds very, very clean. I'm extremely happy with it.

I have a MTX Thunderform in my Navajo. I replaced the standard MTX sub that came with it with a MTX Blue Thunder sub. It's great. Paid $90 bucks for it, brand new in the box. A local car audio store (HiFi FoFum) had bought it for a customer who never came in to pick it up and they couldn't get rid of it.

I run the Q-Logic custom enclosure for 1991-1999 Ford Explorers. It houses an Orion XTRpro 10d sub and it sounds very poor. I am in the "fine tuning" stage of the install and my installer and I are very disappointed with it. Right now we are trying to find out if we have our settings from the amp hooked up to the best possible setting and that our crossover points are where they should be. The sub seems to **** itself at about 70% volume. The sub requires .85 cuft and the box is only .65 cuft which is a good indicator that we may have to port the enclosure. I am going to have to hold up on giving you a recommendation for these "custom fab" enclosures. It seems that good ol square or rectangular sub boxes work best, though they take up too much damn room!

DO NOT PORT THE ENCLOUSRER!

DO NOT PORT THE ENCLOUSRER!
ported enclousers use more space and the port take up more room. Putting a port in a already small box would be like making the box HALF the size try using polyfill it might just give you that extra space.

Yeah, dude,

Don't port the enclosure. That'll mess everything up. If your installer thinks that porting it will help increase the box volume necessity for some reason, then they don't even know the basics of box building, and it'd be time to get a new installer. Either do like FBMonkey said, unless those are already filled with polyfill, or get a sub with that requires less volume. There's nothing you can do with the other fine tuning parts that will fix your current problem. :(

Hi anyone,

Got also some question about stealth boxes.

What is the biggest woofer can be installed in the stealth boxes?
Maybe have some install-instructions?
Did anyone make some by theirself?

The largest speaker I've seen in a Stealth, MTX or Rockford box designed for the cargo pocket on the Explorer is 10". I think I saw somewhere on here recently someone who put in a 12" sub in the old factory encolsure (they modified it)..
