Just moved to Dallas from Michigan. Gilmer at the end of June sounds great. Who all is in? What are the specific dates?

I'm in houston, would love to meet up for a run. Altho a 2 hour drive would be out of the question until I get my vibration taken care of.. I'm afraid my truck is going to vibrate apart. Still fairly stock too.

New Texplorer

hey all,

im new to the texas explorer scene, but am really interested in an off road event or gathering.

my rig is still 100% stock...im currently ditching my goodyear snow treads for some 31x10.5 AT's. i dont see myself doing much off road without them.

i've seen a few places offering buy 4 for the price of 3 on the pro comp AT's.
anyone have an opinion here? they look like a good tire to me. once i get the suspension aligned, i think im gonna get some mounted by 4WheelParts.

i cant wait to get some use out of my 4x4 other than crossing the highway median to avoid traffic jams common to the north houston area.

i dont plan on tearing up or breaking my ex since i use it to get to work on a daily basis. i would, however, like to reach some fairly remote areas for some camping and relaxing.

if something gets planned soon, someone please let me know if i fit the criteria...i will also need enough notice to get time off from work.

these mods will come much quicker if i can sell my other truck.
anyone need a '94 chev std cab sportside 2wd 4.3L?

What part of TX are you in nemesis?

DMan446 What part of TX are you in nemesis?

I am a little north of houston.

Sometimes I wander up towards the DFW area.

What about June 25th-27th in Gilmer, this will be the final run for me for a while through the summer.

Sorry I will have a spotter with me, so I won't have an open seat this time.

I have a few things to tidy up on the rig, and have a new lift/suspension to get used to, so I'll prolly run moderate trails, 2's and 3's during the night, other than running a few more 4's than usual during the day.

I would like to know what the model number of the Radio Shack CB you have, BTW, Rat Fink rules! :D

SVO, not sure its in the truck, i bought it i think fall of 2002, so its not very new, its not actually hooked up right now, cause i recently put in the full center console and haven't customized a place for it yet. i'll check though and let u know, u looking for one??

EDIT: TRC-514 is the model number on the front

Thanx, yeah I prolly need to, as mine was underwater, it works but.........

Dose it have weather band aside from a compass?

i honestly have no idea about CB's i use mine mainly for a PA system, i don't know if i need to tune it or what but the signal wasn't ever really that good on it, i rewired hoping that would fix it but didn't, guy at radio shack said buy a tuner, so i quickly replyied "shouldn't they work right after you buy them" to which he had no response.

compass wasn't that great either, i found that installing the OHC with the compass on it works a lot better. good luck

drive down help me put my body lift on end of the month, CB is urs, lol

So is anyone gonna go to Gilmer later this month?

Is there any fun for a stocker?

Where exactly is Gilmer? I was unable to bring it up on a map.

If anyone can offer any advice or help on a BL, I might just purchase some 33's instead of 31's.

I saw somewhere on here that you could put 33x12.5 on the stock rims, but that they might wear funny.

Anyone tried? Should I just stick to 31's until I can afford a new wheel/tire combo?

i wouldn't suggest going 33s on stock rims, just pick up some rock crawlers from 4wheel parts, they are cheap enough, i'd skip the 31 stage if i were u and go str8t to 33s

i just went up to 31s and i like it but not the change i really wanted, so now i'm doing 33s in a few weeks, but if u really want 31s let me know and u can come buy mine off me!

I would buy them from ya, but I am needing new tires as soon as I get rid of my chevy. Which I'm hoping is within the next week.

I looked at your cardomain page and came across your friend jennifer's 2wd X.
She is running 33's on the stock rims. Has she had any problems?

I don't mean to insult anyone, but I think that 33's look better on these stock rims than they would on black or white rockcrawlers.

I suppose that the narrower stockers might have a disadvantage.

33's would make me so much happier than 31's, but I am concerned about the drivability of my eXplorer.

How much would they bog it down? Is it going to tear up my suspension with daily driving or long trips?

If the 33's are going to ruin my vehicle, then I don't see any reason to get them anytime soon. I could really use some advice from someone with a genII and 33's.

Anyone know where Gilmer is? I'm desperate to get this thing dirty.

im here in dallas. I would like to have a meet sometime to meet more people. I know of a national ranger meet july 23, 24, and 25th at joe pool lake.

Are you the dude, that lives down the street from me?

www.svtoreo.com <--theres my truck

33s on stock rim... u have to run the tire at around 25-28psi... too low in my opinion. that will allow even wear. better to run it on 15x8. i ran mine for a while on 15x7.. did not like it. u can run it at stock rim, just low air pressure.. thats all.
