Here Here, the verdict is in. I DON'T.
So Here is my problem, description, and maybe you have a theory I can check out.
Fog lights, My friend, a disabled vetran of the armed forces just had his car totaled, we ended up getting a 2000 ford Explorer XLS for $2000.00 out the door. The truck is in good shape, but only one thing now is bothering me.
There is fog lights installed in the front bumper, they LOOK stock, however most XLS trucks did not come with stock foglights, and this one has a switch mounted below the dash instead of on the radio cover.
they were not working.
So, I asked around on here, and I found that, due to some stupidity the person who installed them had used some sorta retarded clamp to hook into the "BROWN" wire off of the dimmer switch, which, should only become hot when the headlight switch is on in park or above. so I fixed their crappy wiring job, and I tested, I put the white wire (fog lights) that WAS connected to the brown wire, on the + of the battery, and BANG, on came the lights. so I hooked up the brown wire to the white wire (Tied brown and white on one side and brown on the other) and again the lights came on, and the switch had power. so I finally taped around the butt connector, and now the lights do not come on again. I DO have power at the switch, but nothing to the socket, however if I put a bulb in the pass. side and turn the switch on, I get a slight glow that goes away after a second. (like removing the batteries from a flash light and turning it on, residual power)
what I need to know is, I think that the white wire is more like..the remote wire on an amplifier.....its just used to tell the other relays to come on. I now have power there.
What I see:
Switch
Two Fuse boxes (5Amp) both fuses good. No +V(to either fuse box, or either side of the fuse) with switch on.
Two 4 Prong black Boxes (relays?)
if you had something like this, how would it logically be hooked up? anyone know?
