Wont work with stock lifters..the lifters dont have a way to feed the rods

Ditto. You can use them, but don't bother if they are more money.

I have a set of this style on my ohv (same or less money for me at the time) but there is no oil going thru them when priming.
On my V8, oil does pump thru them when priming the motor.

It could be argued that there is less strength to the push rod with a hole thru it, with no benefit on the v6 ohv. Or, it could be argued that the valvetrain carries less weight. No clue. Just know that you don't need them.

As always this forum remains one of the best sources for information. I'm wondering what would need to be done to pump oil through them(pushrods). Likely not worth the effort other than to be different.

I did find that the 3.0l and 5.0l motors use a similar lifter and is designed to pump oil through the pushrods. Don't know if they are the same diameter, length shouldn't mater cause we were discussing cut to length pushrods.

It does matter especially if you change the cam..the lifter cant come out with the heads on..at max lift they come up very close to the heads, any longer and they would hit..finding one in the right size is hard..

My lifters that come with my roller rockers have holes in them and use a hollow rod..

But there is more to the issues than having oil feed through the pushrods..the only issues with the stock lifter is they tend to clog as they fill up and dont really bleed all the way down,so dirty oil stays in them..

The major problem is oil at the valve tip and rocker..the pushrod side of the rocker get pretty good oil..we have a thread around here talking about all this and the final decisions was it wouldn't help or be worth it to swap to a hollow pushrods and oil feed lifters

Not to discredit anyone else's knowledge here, but did you do some checking at TRS as well as the engine tech forums here? The 3.0L engines don't have the same oil control issues like the 4.0L. Not sure how relevant it is in your case SuperKirby.

Is super Kirby in this thread?? Bit the 3.0 uses different rockers and rollers are cheap for that motor

I should call Tom Morana some day. If you could buy his lifters, you might have something. I have no interest in roller rockers.

Its not gonna help the rockers at all..just helps prevent lifter clogs, which can really be prevented by using good oil and a good cleaning..

Well I am now....
Sorry, I fully acknowledge this does nothing to farther the knowledge on this thread, knowledge that is far above my head.

If anyone cares, Kirby is actually my dog. He's a pretty stellar mutt though.

Back on topic.

So true JD! Good oil and regular maint is crucial
