Just wondering if anyone has used SeaFoam or TransX additive / conditioner?

I am thinking of using it when I do the pan drop, as well as on the girlfriends sisters tranny as it is catching when downshifting.

As much as I like seafoam, I would not use their product in my tranny. As funny as our trannies are, I would stick to the OE specs on tranny fluid.

It's great for flushing the power steering though :D

I've been using Trans-X mixed with my tranny fluid at a 1:10 ratio for about 40,000 miles now, and I cannot say that it improved shifting or anything like that (Because when I first started using it I did not have any problems). I can say that I drive my Ex hard, with the superchip it revs to 4,500 RPMs before shifting (and I take it to that limit quite often). The tranny has never been rebuilt and now has 121,000 miles on it... Still shifts as smooth as silk, does not slip, and (since I replaced the O-rings two weekends ago) does not clunk into reverse either. I will not venture to say whether or not it works so well because of Trans-X, but I will continue to use the stuff because it's what I have been doing for all those problem-free miles before.

This popped up when I searched about the SeaFoam Transmission juice. Can I tell you that it saved my Son's Nissan 300ZX? The transmission leaked off and on for the past 5 years. It got to the point where reverse was a crap shoot. He borrowed my truck to move to college and I got the Z for a weekend. Autozone had the SFT and I'd never tried it before. I checked my ATF stick - no mark - so I put the whole can of SFT in and topped it off with ATF fluid - drove it 20 miles and it's like new. I'm sure that having the fluid level so low helped break down the gunk - but it's not leaking much anymore, and it shifts through the auto trans like honey. I wouldn't/won't hesitate to try it in my '93 sometime this Fall.

what do ya'll think about Lucas? its unopened so i can always take it back. Limited 4.0L SOHC if that matters

Isn't a little bit like VooDoo? :) I've purchased the Big Bottle of Lucas fuel treatment - and feel like after the first two applications - the rest is probably better left on the shelf until the next time my mpg starts slipping - or I know that I got a bad tank of gas.

The SeaFoam chemists have it right. The only reason I'd use a different can would be if my Bro-in-law worked at the Seafoam Plant and told me that the "cheaper can" came down the same line - with different graphics on the can.

Post your results if you decide to go with the Lucas product. Trans fluid conditioner falls under the "extra miles for free" on a trans that probably will be replaced anyway - so why not try it? My quotes on the Z tranny were $2300 - the SeaFoam was $10.

I had a 2000 Eddie Bauer 4r70w with 263k (mainly country roads and highway) original fluid and shifting from 2-3 I would get a shake (assuming the fluid simply lost it's gripping abilities after 263k). My instructor's help in highschool told me to get a bottle a seafoam and put it in. He's had over 30 years of experience with Ford and Jaguar (mainly Ford systems), so I trusted him and put it in. Without a fluid change the shake went away and I continued to drive on it for about a month and a half. I decided to put a new transmission in so I couldn't tell you if it held up past the month and a half but it did not slip/shake once in that month and a half.

I was referring to the Lucas trans fix. Compared to seafoam. I think I will find my reciept and take it
