Anyone using or ever try the Helwig stabilizer spring?

I'm speaking of the one on the Explorer Express website. It's a Helwig helper spring. Looks like a big leaf spring that goes crossways on the rear suspension. I tow my CJ with my Explorer and even with the WD hitch, I get some sag. Was thinking that helper spring might do the trick. Not too crazy about the part where it says the ride will be stiffer though. Would like any input on it.

the hellwing spring is for leaf sprung applications......you have IRS so it wont work.

ooo ok......it sounds like it should work(im not to familiar with IRS....i would say go for it).

I remember reading that it is hard to install. It is for stiffening up the suspension, specifically to reduce body roll. The rear EE bar is the best to have for 95-01 models, hopefully that 2002+ bar is as desirable. Good luck,

I haven't been able to find much feedback about it anywhere, so I guess I'll try it out. Found it listed for $99 at rough country suspensions, so I'll test it out I suppose. Even if I hate, at least I'm only out $100. I've spent more on things I hated before!

let us know how it works out. i was wondering the same thing.

Well I finally got around to installing that stabilizer bar. I like it! It is not hard to install, in fact it's very easy. I expected a much stiffer ride, but I can't tell much difference in the ride quality. It did reduce body roll quite a bit, and feels much better turning/cornering. It also raised the rear up about 1/2". Not too noticeable though. As for towing, which is why I really got it, it helps some with the sag, but not as much as I'd hoped. A little bit is better than nothing though. It does make it feel more stable when towing, so that is another added benefit. The one and only downside to it...it does reduce ground clearance under the control arms because the preload stud and nuts hang down. It hasn't been a problem, but I don't exactly wheel my X offroad either. That stud is pretty far outboard so if there is an obstacle/rock, it will go up higher with the tire.
Maybe this will help somebody else. Got mine at summit racing.

is there any way u can add a leaf to this stabilizer to increase clearance?

Not sure I understand what you mean. Increase clearance where? I suppose you could add a leaf to it which would make it arch higher and provide a little more lift I guess. But the ride would be hard as a rock, I don't think you'd want to do that. No matter how high you go with it, it's not going to increase clearance at the control arm, only larger tires will do that.

yea i get wut ur saying... thanx
