APIM replacement... location, part No, how to?

Trying to reprogram a replacement APIM. It appears to be loading my original as-built data file into the new unit but the radio still is not right. It is not resetting to my as-built configuration. Can't figure out what I am doing wrong? Radio and screen turn on and work. Did I get a wrong unit? Are there settings in Forscan I have wrong? About to set this damn Explorer on fire and walk away I am so sick of screwing with this. Sorry! Thanks for any help!

What kind of replacement APIM do you have?
Does it work with the original as-build from the new APIM in you car?

I don't seem to be able to load my ab file. Nothing changes on the replacement unit. The asb file I get from the Ford site is a *.ab extension. I'm gonna go ahead and assume this is not the correct file which is why it doesn't work.

My daughter has a 2011 explorer platinum that requires a new APIM as the display quit working. The dealer has quoted 1500 canadian for replacement.
This is absurd and am looking for another alternative.
please advise suitable solutions.
Thanks

You can find them way cheaper online. You can even look at a junkyard.

You could program it yourself or pay someone to do it.

Welcome to the Forum.
Your thread was merged with this existing one.
BTW, there is no 2011 Platinum. The Platinum trim only came out in 2016.😉

we have located an APIM module for our 2011 explorer in a junkyard. Do you have specific instructions on how to program the module once we have it installed? We are trying to sell the vehicle and would like to keep costs as low as possible.

Look on the forum here for FORScan.

Have you read through this thread? There are a few posts that mention what is required to do what you want.

I just wanted to say you guys are awesome. I was able to source a used APIM for $100, got an ELMconfig from Amazon for$30, downloaded forscan and followed the instructions to get the apim back to factory and then get my NAV back. Everything seems to be working as should. I can't thank you all enough!
Thanks again,
Jeff
i was wondering if your numbers matched or not. the last two on mine is cx but i having a hard time finding that under 600 bucks. I am curious if i can just get any ol' one and put it in.

The part numbers sometimes change with the model year. I checked another number and it showed as being for the 2011 Explorer only. The one I linked shows it is only for the 2012 model. Beyond that, I don't know. Other various parts I've checked before, would have a list a number of model years.
