Day 1:
Already fantastic! There is no transmission hunting, and the shifts are decisive, quick, firm, and complete. They shift where they should.... there is no OD hunting at 45 mph anymore :D
Power is amazing... clearly a very broad gain. My torque is all back(feels like more actually) from my magnaflow, and the mid to high end is amazing. When I am going 40 in 3rd and want to hit 60, it takes no time, and it is a powerful and quick acceleration now. It's not like 'cmon baby, cmon you can make it' its just a push of the pedal and you are there. This chip is so far absolutely FANTASTIC! The shifts at WOT at 6k rpms are VERY quick, sooooo much better than before... its so awsome.
I am ecstatic. I just wish my friends weren't all on vacation so they could see this!
So far..... I highly reccomend this chip... and I really don't see that opinion changing.

They're grrreat!

Yeah Nate, come on.. Stop foolin' around and let us know if you like it :)

I forgot to say.... you should have seen the grin on my face when I first stepped on it.... I looked a whole lot better than this: :D

DAMN!!! Can't wait to get mine.:D

Ok, let's recap.

What do these chips run for me? I've been undecisive whether to get one or not, but lately i've been itching to get one.

I am debating getting one also, but 90% of the people that get one only mention shift points and all, well i ahve a 5-speed, so my shift points arent gonna be affected....;)

Now other than shifting at a higher RPM, was there really a significant, or noticeable change in power?

Yomie I picked up almost 40rwhp with intake, exhaust, throttle body, and chip.

Power... yes. The premium program on day one with some leftover 87 octane showed plenty of power gains. The car feels much more confident. When I want to go, I go. The shifts are extremly nice, but there really are power gains too. After I ebay my free 3Ghz p4 machine I am going to get a KKM. I dont know what you will feel with a 5 speed or non-electronically controlled transmisson.... but I feldt alot.... my truck is a whole new truck :D
Day 2: I think I sucked a little water in my intake, because magically after crossing a deep puddle my car hesitated a little bit, but it was nothing.
Gave my 33" tire weilding 350ci fullsize blazer friend (who used to neck and neck race me) a 2 second rolling headstart (or so) starting from about 10mph... and I definatly creamed him. He says he wasn't trying his hardest ... but whatecer, there is obviously more ummph.
Anyways, I think it's worth it!

yeah i def agree with everything Nate is sayin, when i turn the chip off my truck feels like it has no power. but when i turn it on, wow is that a whole different ballgame. also i think this is the best mod ive done too.

See! NOW GO GET ONE! You 5R55E guys, you don't know what you are missing out on!

I wish it was that easy.....you see, i've been out of a job for 2 months already, and can't find one around here, doing anything. I've even tried getting on as a barback at all the casino's around here, still no word back...i dont' know whats going on. Might try the unemployment office tomorrow :(

Got my computer back today from Brian and it works!!!
Man does this chip kick A#$ I love it... Ok gotta go, My buddy wants to take it for a test drive. Hey thanks Brian!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

the Apten chip is deffinatly worth the cash, like everyone said above it just feels like a whole new truck

Absolutely!

The chip really gives my truck more power in the 1500+RPM range. Used to be I could only feel the horsepower once my engine got to almost 3000. But with this chip, I can feel my truck accelerating quicker all the way down in 1500 RPM range.
Full recommendation!
Karl

I hate to dump on the positive vibes in this thread, put please help me out so I can say the same things you guys are...I posted this over in the sport truck forum but it might get a bit more attention here (maybe from Brian.....:) )
yes i checked the search, but nothing matched this......)
I installed the chip fine. I ordered a chip burnt with the stock settings and a 93 octane performance program. I sanded the connections, blah blah. I had the selector for the chip set to what i though was the stock setting, as i was gonna start it on stock, drive it around/warm it up a bit, then switch to the performance setting. SO anyway long story short, the truck now will not start on the performance setting, even though it started fine initally on the performance setting. Truck works fine on the stock setting, just not the performance. When the battery is turned on, all the lights on the dash light up like usual, but the CEL flickers quickly, and there is a fast clicking sound along with it. Turn the key, it turns and tries to start but sounds like the timing for everything is WAY off and shakes pretty bad. Has my port been disabled? EEC reflashed? More sanding? Any and all ideas help. Thanks again, sorry for the overly-wordy post.

just my $.02

If your truck runs fine on the stock settings, at least you're not without your Explorer!

If the CEL is going crazy, and nothing else (engine wise)is working, the issue could be a short on the switch, or the chip/program itself. Brian has 100% stoood by his product. I would send it back, and describe the issues you're having, and I bet he'll straighten you out.

Again, you sanded ALL THE WAY down to the copper, right? That's really weird. Have you tried the other setting (the switch is a 3 position, so maybethe setting your switch is on is not active)?

Best of luck,

Karl

Yea, I'm counting my blessings I that ordered the stock program!
Yep, checked all 3 option positions on the chip. And yep, sanded down to copper, although the bottom connections didnt come as clean as the top....but wouldnt nothing happen if that was the case? Like, why would it work on the stock settings, but my performance ones? What the heck, I might as well sand it a bit more before I send it back. Thanks for the help.

This is just a guess but.......

... if your connections weren't good, but you had the switch set to stock, the program probably alters the ECU little or not at all, thus you can't tell a difference, and the engine runs fine.
Brian will help you the best though.
Later,
Karl
