I'm looking at using some F150 rims that are very plentiful around here used on the cheap for my rig. I'm converting to 5x5.5 lug pattern hense the need for different rims.

I know that it's questionable to mount 33x12.5x15's on 7 inch rims and I have them mounted currently on 8 inch rims with no issues.

Is 7.5" still too narrow for a 12.5" tire?

Older F150's and Broncos used some 15x8 rims but they are harder to come by.

Can you? Yes, Should you? up for debate.

The thinner rim means you bulge the sidewall more. Thats somewhat good for Wheeling..

For example. 12.50 tire on an 8" rim has more rim protection than the same tire on a 10" rim. Also, the thinner rim usually means less chance or rolling the bead off at lower pressures.

I personally run 33x12.50's on 8" rims and love it. There is no way I'd ever go to a 10" rim. I've seen people run 7" rim, but I've never done it.

Oh, before I forget. How it "sits" on the road is what affects most people. They can wear funny (center or edges more) since its being pinched. IIRC, the center wears faster using the same pressure when you use a narrower rim.
