I bought a '93 with stock (not premium) speakers and the midrange has never sounded good.
Best I can describe is like someone talking into a microphone with his lips pressed against it -- kind of a muffled buzzing in the middle range. The highs are crisp and the bass comes through okay.
The previous owner installed a Pioneer CD player (25Wx4) at some point. I have no reason to believe it was done properly.
I have read elsewhere in this forum that mixing up the speaker wires +/- can cause sound distortions. But I do not know whether what I'm hearing is due to a) incorrect hookup or b) the previous owner's kid blowing out the stock speakers with the new Pioneer.
Before I begin the dreaded task of popping door panels and opening up the dash to check the wires ... could I have some opinions on what the problem might be?
