are there any differences between a 97 ohv motor and a 98 ohv motor? i can get a working 98 ohv for $550.

You should be able to get it to work. But someone else will know for sure. The only thing i can think of is some of the wiring might be different

The heads and internals may be slightly different, as well as the computer programming. However, it should swap in. You're probably better off using the donor vehicle's computer though.

Check this article out. Good information. Only problem I could see would be flywheel compatability depending on your engine/vehicle build date.
