After messing up my headlights with aftermarket bulbs, I have decided to upgrade to a heavy duty harness, as many of you suggested to me. I have seen wiring kits available for other vehicles, like my suburban, that allow the high and low beams to be used at the same time. I know that in the explorer both high and low beams come on when the dimmer lever is held back by hand. Is there any mods that I can do to allow them to both be on all the time without me keeping my hand on the lever? I figure I may be able to kill two birds with one stone when I upgrade the wiring. Thanks!

You DO NOT want to do this, as your high and low beams are the same bulb, and running them both at the same time will get the bulb really hot, and you will keep burning out bulbs...

Now your burban on the other hand, has seperate bulbs for the high/low beams, so heat is not an issue...

Thats exactly what I was thinking. I guess there is a reason why there are no kits for this. The 'burb' does have two seperate lights on each side.

I tried holding the turn signal stalk to see how much light output there is with both highs and lows on onetime... blew out one of my Xenon bulbs after about 20 seconds... not doing that again, atleast I got a free replacement :D
