armrest bracket

Hey everyone, I broke the armrest bracket on my 92 about a year ago, and I'v finally decided that I'd like to be able to use the armrest again. So, I went into the local ford dealer and told the parts guy what I needed , and he told me that it would cost $60 for the bracket. Holy crap.. Is there somewhere online that I can find the bracket for cheaper?

Just make sure the one you are getting off ebay, wherever is the METAL one...!

Broke it on my 92 in a wreck. I eventually paid the $50 or so to Ford after looking all over Hell's Half Acre for one. You need a die grinder or or a small rotary cutting device to cut the bar on the old one to get it out... Pain in the Ass. I was only about a 30 mins job but unfun.

You dont need a grinder or something to cut the bar out. I just did mine the other day and didnt use one. All you need to do it carefully pull the leather, or cloth out of the little indent around the square, then carefully pull it over the back of the arm rest, pull the foam back and use a punch or a flat head and a hammer and puch the bar out the other side. Then just use spray glue to hold the leather inplace.

Interesting approach, must have too easy for me to have spotted. I always seem to gravitate to the tough solution to an easy problem <g> Thanks, I'll try that next time!!

I've got a blue one you can have for $20.00. The bracket is plastic over steel and it includes the arim rest itself. It's in good shape. I got it out of wreck so my wife could make a pattern for the leather one that was cracked in her '94.

Man TAKE THAT DEAL. You can always use plastic paint (available at any auto paint store) to custom match it!

ps. An airbrush can be invaluable to paint smallish parts like this. Or a cheap air cannister powered one.

Sorry Bruce Rock, But I want a tan one. I'v got the armrest piece which is in great condition. I dont want the entire assembly.
