Assateague Island

I was wondering if anyone every just goes down to assateague to wheel or to camp or anything. I think Ill be going down there this week to see if it has any good fishing(surf) and wheeling....

Havent been down in a few years, last time I went got eatin alive by the flies behind the dunes. Not sure if those trails are still open. Not too much fun in a soft top Jeep that seemed to only let them the flies in and not OUT!
Dont know if you have been before or not but I think the rangers still have requirements for what equip yoiu have to have with you. I would check with them.
Generally in the sand some 2x8s- a couple feet long, a shovel, a strap would be the mins.

If you go way down the beach Ive heard some reports about nude sunbathers, but interestingly havent heard much about the fishing! Let us know - about either.
