where is this place ive never heard of it and i live in va beach we all ways go to nc you can drive everywhere down there and it free o and fireworks are legal!!
edit yea ive been there years ago i was on my way to a dover race its about 2 hours from va beach

its about a 10 minute ride from ocean city maryland. well that's the maryland part of the island. its only about 2 hours away from me. if my mountaineer does get totalled ill take my bike down and hop in with someone else

the new passes go on your windshield above you inspection/emissions sticker. its huge and kinda annoying but oh well. if I can get a def. post of ppl that will be there then I will call and see if they can give a group discount. also 97awdx do you remember if you can bring dogs? id like to bring my english mastiff out there. keep him on a leash of course but.....

some rules I found on there web site:
The off road permit is good for both the Virginia and Maryland ends of Assateague Island and there is a $70-$150 annual permit fee (depending on the type of access desired). There is no weekly or other short term permits. Off road vehicles must be "street legal"(motorcycles and ATV's are not allowed). You will need to present your registration card. You need a low pressure tire gauge ( it's recommenced to let the air out to 15 lbs. or so for the soft sand). There are air pumps near the off road entrance. A shovel, jack, a board to support the jack in the sand (12" sq. minimum, 3/4" plywood or 1&1/2" hardwood), and a tow rope or chain (substantial capacity, 10' minimum length) are also required. Fines are charged for each piece of missing required equipment. The permit is available through the mail (request 3 weeks at least in advance). It also can be obtained in person at the Visitor Centers.

My wife and I are starting a family and the F-150 wasn't car seat friendly. When I sold it, it had 38" Xterrains on. I will get 35's under my '02 come hell or high water.

yeah about 70 but its well worth getting the 24/7 pass its a night and day priority pass its kinda like easy pass. also make sure you have a showel, tow strap, piece of wood, and jack. tire gauge also

at least you stayed with ford family. I really like the F150 looks really clean. explorers are def. more car seat frendly (and safer).

My father has worked for Ford for 25 years, so I have always had Fords, and always will. And ya, the crash test rating for that generation F-150 was dismal.

all right boys...

lets start narrowing down a date to set this " EXPLORATION " in motion...

well its clearly been decided NOT 4th JULY for obvious reasons...

1. do we want this to be a one day X trip ? or do we collectively want this to be a weekend event of camping out and wheeling ?

2. do we want to set this up for the END of JUNE or END of JULY ?

3. here are the possible weekends i was thinking of...

- JUNE...

- 19th,20th,21st OR 26th,27th,28th

- JULY...

- 17th,18th,19th OR 24th,25th,26th

THESE DATES ARE JUST SOME OPTIONS...

The end of July would be best for me, I would say July 24th-26th, even August. I usually go for a week, so it does not matter if it's a one day bash or a couple of days. We definitely need to do some surf fishing too.

Are we going to open this up to everyone on the forum?

i say HELL YEA !!!!! to the idea of inviting everyone on the forum to attend... why does it have to be just 3rd gens... we are all explorer fans no matter what gen " you " own... theres no need to seclude ourselves...
