Attack on Attica!!!

Ok...

I've decided to make a web page that will give directions from the Chicago area and from the St. Louis area, and from the middle of the state area. I will also post some hotel/motel information on it and some restaurant info if I can find any.

It will be at Dead Link Removed

I am hoping to get the page up before the end of the weekend so please be patient.

Thanks,

Dave

One more thing guys...

If everyone that is going could email me with where they are from I will post a link to driving directions from their city to Attica on the webpage that I am building.

My email is DW-Ristau@wiu.edu

This could make it easier for everyone.

Dave

Dave,

If there is anything I can help with, please let me know.

The Attack on Attica webpage is up!!!!

Go to Dead Link Removed for information on the Attica run.

Any questions or problems call or email me.

Dave

Wow! That was fast Dave.

Nice site. :D

Man, these young college guys got toooooo much time on their hands.

Dave, I place my vote for you to be the trip coordinator.

Oh crap, you're already doing that!!!

Seriously though, I like the site, and thanks for doing the legwork to keep everything straight and everybody informed of whats going on.

Riff did you get any tow hooks yet? I expect a report on pittsfield when I see you again.

Later guys, I'm ready!

I can't believe this thread went dead for two days, I thought you guys were excited about going. (joke)
I found a webpage for a place that teaches about 4x4 stuff and they do the instruction at the badlands. The link is http://www.letsgojeepin.com , check it out, in the trip report section there are some links with tons of pics from attica so you can see what its like. Most of the people use stock vehicles and seem to have a great time. Just thought I'd let you know.

The green trail is a mud pit if there has been any rain. Standing water mud pit that is. Be sure to check the local weather or give them a call about conditions a few days before hand. I went down in April and the weather was 75, sunshine and dry. It was still thick with mud. Lots a fun.I did not use my explorer cause the guys I went with all had SWB vehicles and wanted to show me the orange and pink trails. Lots of off camber and places to high center on. I watched a 79 inch wheel base vehicle high center lots.(no lift) I did not know there were trails for LWB's. If I get free I will try to make it out. I'm not looking for any body damage though. Just a good time and a chance to meet some fellow explorers. Sounds like fun.

Hey guys....Now I haven't kept up to date much on this lately....I'd love to go, except for a few things. Now, y'all may think I'm pussin out, but I'm not. I hear it's extremely easy for body damamge and I just repainted....what a mistake...as well as I don't know that I wanna drive my explorer down there on a set of brand new boggers....that would be some nice wear and tear. I may try and get the family van and trailer queen her down there....I'm lookin for some relaxin times with some fellow explorer drivers and some relitivly safe drving...As well I want minimal damage to the whole driveline, for I can't afford to break a whole lot....I still wanna keep up on this and see what is going on with it all. What are the dates and times again on all this? Please keep me updated...Thanks alot.
-Pete

I don't think any of us would go to Attica if there were a high chance of damaging our SUVs. Although, accidents happen, if you're careful and stay to the "green" trails (like I'm going to do), you should have a great time. I'm driving over 150 miles just to get there. That’s a long walk home if the truck gets broken. I'm not worried about it though. Should be a relatively unchallenging but fun ride.

Just make sure your Explorer is in good shape. Get a tune up and your set. Especially with your new boggers, you should have no problems. I mean why did you get boggers? So you can go off road right? I'm going off road on Good Year street tires. Gerald Jarrett put together an awesome list of trail equipment. I highly recommend it to all of you.

Looking forward to seeing all of you.

RFR, None of us want any trail damage, for most of us this is our primary driver, me included. Its about 250 miles for me 1 way and I don't feel like walking any more than Cameron does so I don't think anyone will be getting real stupid. We are just looking for a fun, relaxing weekend to get away from the ratrace and share some good times.

The run is the 24-25 of june, go to big daves webpage to get all the particulars on it. Hope you can talk the family out of the van and trailer so we can see you there.

ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!!

I will be away from home from Wednesday June 7th until Sunday June 11th. I will be checking my email, but I may not be able to update the Attica webpage. Therefore, if you send me where you are from during that time, do not worry if it is not up until late Sunday night or on Mondday June, 12th.

Again, I will try to check email, but no guarantees...

Dave

Well, I'd also like to go on this run, but unfortunately I'm working that weekend. But, I'm sure that there'll be other opportunities to go. I'm interested in visiting a number of places over the next few years, sort of catching up on my youth. :)

I do expect to read some type of trail report, along with pics. Then, I'll have some idea of what to expect when I can meet up with some of you. Indianapolis is only about 5 hours from here, and I don't think Atica is much farther.

Motels - pets......

I'll try to call these motels in the area to check if they'll take me with my pup, she'll be great companion to your Lab BigDave since she's a Dalmatian. My wife says she won't go without her so I have no choice since I want this to be a kind of family outing as well. Stay tuned guys.
I'm just getting my BFG's and they better show-up before the run. Tow hooks got to go on although I don't know if I will have time to put them on since I wanted to weld them on. Well, my ropes will be in the back....just in case.

Later,
:D

Andre,

I take it you know how to get to Attica, but if you're not sure I can put a link up at the Attica page. Also, any information you find out about the motels allowing pets would be wonderful. Also, do you think the wife would mind watching two dogs? If so, do you think the park will charge me for another rider? :D Anyhow, email me and we'll talk... If it is going to be a pain or the motels are real expensive, I probably end up camping too. I'll have to bring my supplies back from home when I go this weekend.

Dave

ahhhh.....fishing is soo much fun........but......

....it doesn't let me check out the internet...

Yeah...i just got back from northern wisconsin....fishing trip and camping.....holy S#$! was is cold!!!

Yes i got towhooks...but they're not on yet....

Have we got a tally of whos going when? I ask this, cause i work untill midnight...and then am walking in the relay for life here.....(its a walk for cancer....HEY?!?!?! anybody wanna sponser me?)......anyway...im waking untill 2 am.....so im gonna drive to attica from there and probably sleep in my truck. If i could find out where you are all gonna be, then someone could like knock on my window when its time to go in the morning......

Other than that...im ready!!!

Riff, BigDave's got all the info on when and where on his website, go there and check it out, should be able to find everything you need to know. If you want to sleep at the meeting place I'll give you a little bump in the morning to wake you up.

Are you still planning on camping sat night? I was going to call the campgroungs to make sure they will have a place for us.

yup....i'll be camping saturday night.

Are all you guys gonna camp over at Summers Carroll Campground? I'll be going to Attica on Friday so I can take a look around. Don't know where I'm staying yet but will find out Thursday. So far my tow hooks are just sitting on the work bench in my garage and the tires are still not here yet. Well, let's hope I get it all go before the trip otherwise I'm tackling this trail "STOCK"!!!

:D
