IM throwing around the idea of making a supercharger kit for all 5.0 explorers want to get a feel for how many people would be interested in it .. The price would be A LOT cheeper then EE's $3400...IM thinking around $2400-2600 range.this would be using a Kenne-Bell compressor. I have talked to them about doing something if enough people are interested...email me or reply to this thread if interested...

kit would include:
S/C, all brackets. Pulleys etc.
FMU and lines to hook it up
bypass valve if needed and cost is low.
boost a pump<<==this is a maybe
t-tex pump if needed..<== this would not use the boost a pump..

Looking to have around 8#'s of boost and close to 100+hp from it ..
IM going to do the kit on my own truck 1st to see if any problems will come up....

Hey man, keep us posted, I've always wanted to put a supercharger on my 5.0 but I wanted a roots/screw type not a centrifigal. The only thing available is the EE one, but it cost way too much. 2400 for a roots blower would be nice.

I thought there was already a Kenne Bell 5.0 Explorer supercharger listed on thier website?

OOOOps. My bad. I called Kenne-Bell today. They don't make an Explorer kit.

Hello,

Looks like the plan is dead in the water eh? I have had this Idea of using a Eaton M112 from a newer Lightning... These blowers can be found used fairly cheap sometimes even with intercoolers, I dont think adapting one would be all that hard to do...
If I ever decide to do it I will let you all know...

Cya!

I am really intrested, please keep us posted.:fire:

I haven't dealt with the Eaton M112, but if it is like the M90 I just put on mine from EE, then you will need to fabricate basically 4 things:
- intake plenum for the charger to sit on that matches the GT-40 lower
- elbow to go from the rear of the charger to the throttle body
- front plate to mount idler pulley's to.
- getting a bypass valve, unless it comes with the charger.

The rest would not be too hard to do...

I had to change EE's setup because I have the 302 that they say "Our kit does not it" - Oh yes it does... they just didn't take the time to find out why it doesn't fit.

Hey Cobra!

Thanks for the tip! That is kind of what I figured... My dad has a 01 Lightning so I have had a few looks at it and run the idea through my head... I have several friends that either work at a machine shop or own one so I think one of them could handle making the Eaton to GT-40 adapter plate which seem to me like the hardest part of the job... Anyways, How do you like you EE M90? I'm just now starting to hotrod my X and I have seriously thought about buying that kit because it would be fairly painless to install and I want to use a roots type blower... Does your X have the internal EGR that EE says won't work? Ya right! I read that and was Like WTF? I knew if mine had that there would be a way around it somehow... What did you have to do?

Thanks!
Dave P
