Digital caps just have a voltage display so you can monitor the voltage at the cap... As for the whine, how are your power/signal wires run? You need atleast 18" between the power and signal wires and if they have to cross, do so at a 90 degree angle...

signal wires? what are they? is there a different name for em?

Signal wires would be your RCA wires running from your HU to your amp, or if you dont have an amp, it would just be the wires from your HU to your speakers...

signal wires are the rca's, and the purpose of a capacitor is to somewhat store some energy from the battery so that when a burst of that energy is drawn from the amp it will pull it from the cap instead of the rest of the vehicles electical system, it can help lenghthen the life of the alternator/battery, and stop the headlights form dimming
