Has anyone ever heard the awt serioes subwoofers from audiobahn? Im trying to decide if i want to get the AWT series. I originally planned on getting a single awt12x, but decided to go wtih the alum10qs for more sq qualities. I also heard from a shop saying that he knew someone who had a single awt12x in his navigator and that he blew his rear window out at a soundoff. I dont know if thats true, but 2000watts rms, with 200oz magnets. It also weighs 54 lbs, compared to my alum10qs that weigh 25lbs each.

They take lots of power!!! so give them at least their rms rating, with low distortion, but are pretty expensive. Dont know about blowing a rear window with just one though....

It all depends how loud you want it, you probably won't be blowing any windows, unless you are using it for a competition. That's why most people have competition cars that aren't meant to be driven, plexiglass windows + all.

Have you guys ever heard it? Im curious as to how hard it really hits. I was going to power it with the A18001DQ class D amp that has 1800x1. Your saying i should get at least a 2000 watt amp? so maybe just keep my a2300hcq 2400 x 1 amp?

i have heard the AWT series 12's, 4 of them to be exact, at the db Drags, in a '02 expedition, don't know what he had pushing these things but they SLAAAMED, obviously since he won the SPL heat, he had all his windows plexiglassed except his winsheild (guess which one shattered?) if you're looking for SPL jssong, which i think you are, and you don't mind spending the money i'm sure they'll be well worth it....

you can find some good deals on ebay right now, theyre a few on there, also just keep your amp you got right now....hopefully that'll be enough, I remember a review on the old 08 series audiobahns, (not flamed) and they were said to handle 1500-2000 watts, and the magazine had it handling upwards of 5000 watts!!! now im not sayin pump the AWT full of 5k watts, but that amp should push a single sub VERY GOOD....

oh yeah I remember an explorer on sounddomain, that had a wall with 4 of these, dont have time to search for it now.....

hey dave.. are u saying that the 1800x1 class d amp is ok.. or that my current 2400x1 is ok. cus im thinking of selling everything ihave now, getting the class d 1800 amp wtih a single awt12x for now, and maybe if i get thirsty for more, another awt12x with another 1800 class d amp

yeah that 1800 watt should be fine, it would be better on power consumption than the 2300hcq, its just that the efficiency on those is a little low, I think high 80's, dont remember exactly, but that should do good, I was just sayin you could get the 12x now, and power it with the 2300 till you get the amp you want, it'll handle the power.....

thanks dave.. but isnt underpowering also bad for the sub? and also arent the audiobahns rated for 12 volts, so with our 14.4 , the 1800 watt should output 2160 or around there.

if i do sell my current setup, it will be as a whole i think. my friend wants everything as a package.. so i wont get to keep my amp. but thanks for your setup.

1800 will be fine. i hope you upgraded the alternator. preferably added a second. a couple years ago i got the chance to install the AWT34. that thing was huge. and you could FEEL the bass from down the block. it was great. i have done a few with the AWT12's and 10's. they are great SPL subs. make sure you really brace the enclosure.

hey leenjen..i have 3 alum10s with the a2300hcq amp and i rarely get dimming.. prob cus i havent turned it up very high. my stock alternator seems to be holding fine, and so is my battery. i have a 2 farad cap, but im looking at the batcaps. do u think ill be good with 1 awt12, or should i go for two

it depends on how much you want. i would be fine with one AWT12, but you might want more. i dont compete, so even one AWT is more than enough.
