2002 Mountaineer
I just saw the post with all the specs on the different factory audio systems. I have a 2002 Mountaineer, with the Audiophile system, and I've been trying to figure out where the 6th and 7th speakers are. It sounds like there may be 2 speakers inside each enclosure in the front doors, is this correct?

One other question regarding Subs...

I have a 10" JL Audio Sub in it's own enclosure, and I was wondering if it would be possible to somehow disconnect the factory sub, and connect the wires from my JL sub to into the factory system.

Thanks

I'm not sure about the '02, but I did have my factory sub amp running a Sony Explode sub in its own enclosure. In order to do this (this is for my '91, not sure if its the same for the new ones) you have to remove the back passenger side panel, and find the two wires going into the factory sub. Just cut those, and wire them to your new subwoofer. Now I think the factory sub amp in 91 was like 80 watts, so it won't thump too much, but it is a huge improvement over the factory sub.

Two Drivers in each enclosure

You are correct - there are two drivers (a 4" mid-range, and a 1" tweeter) in each of the front door enclosures. The rear doors each have a single 5.5"X7.5" full-range speaker, and the 7th speaker would be the 8" Subwoofer in the rear quarter.
