The AUTOmatic 4WD on my 1999 EB is not working. I can switch to 4WD HIGH and make it up the snowy road to my house but in AUTO it is all over the road. We have not had this problem before and we live in a very snowy area and bought the car new. We've taken it to the Reno Ford dealer twice. We've taken it to a dealer in Portland. They all say there is nothing wrong! (As in.. all of the sensors say things are working properly and if they put it on the rack and stop the back wheels the front wheels turn.) On snow, I've watched the rear wheels spin and the front wheels just sit there motionless, so something is wrong. Also, there are loud noises from underneath that shake the car if you keep trying AUTO on a slippery road.
I would appreciate some help! This car has been a terrific winter vehicle up until now, but we depend on the AUTO 4WD a lot and it is currrently useless.
Thanks.

I wish myauto 4X4 did not work. I hate the thing, Consider your self blessed.

Want mine! With the alternating patches of clean asphalt and ice that we get, the AUTO 4WD is real nice to have.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I should tell Ford to fix? I just don't get how it can work fine in 4WD HIGH, that the AUTO wheel-spin sensors are working correctly (according to Ford,) but AUTO 4WD doesn't work.

Is your idiot light for the ABS on?

No, there are no trouble lights on. Panel is normal.
