Hello
New here.

I am one of the Moderators over at The Diesel Page
Im more or less a GM Gal but recently inherited a 98 Explorer
The little Pony rig runs great but recently the auto 4x4 system has taken on itself to bump in and out as it sees fit.

Slow hard turns in a parking lot or hard acceleration in a straight line until up to speed the T case will bump in and out (electric clutch)

If I select 4x4 High the bumping stops.

I am going to venture that this is related to either one or both of the T case output shaft sensors or the Module.

Now is there a way to deactivate the auto part of the system and still have the 4x4 high and Low work with the switch.

OMG what ever happened to the good old days when they put a lever on the floor that never failed.

Any input would be greatly welcomed :D

best

Indeed... Slow tight turns in a parking lot should not cause the system to engage... check out the front wheel bearings (hubs) for excessive play, as well as the rear speed sensor. (My money'd be on the rear axle speed sensor mounted to the top of the diff... It's about a $13 part)

The clunking when accelerating is normal. Mine's done it since day-1. Some engineer in Dearborn actually programmed it to do that as a part of the control algorhythm... Lord only knows why.

The Brown Wire Mod is the answer to your prayers.
