Should I be able to crawl under my explorer and spin the front drive shaft while the vehicle is in park?

If in normal dry conditions should the front driveshaft spin while I drive down the road?

I had a drive shaft made for for the front of my explorer. The problem that I have is that at 55 MPH and up I get a vibration.

I got to thinking... If I have AutoHubs why is the front shaft even turning.

If I could get the shaft not to spin at highway speeds I would not have a problem. I will not need 4X4 over 50 MPH anyway.

Could anyone help clear this up.

'95 and newer don't have hubs at all. The front end is permanantly engaged. No you won't be able to spin the front driveshaft if you crawl under it and yes it spins all the time, even in 2WD.

On '91 - '94 Explorers you should be able to crawl under it and turn the front driveshaft a little and then it should lock the hubs. And while traveling down the highway while in 2WD with the hubs unlocked, the front driveshaft doesn't turn. Does that help?
