auto hubs conversion to manuel question

I am having a problem with the 4x4 and it wont go into gear I press the button and it just clicks.Iread the entire section on the problem with removing the little motor and cleaning it,But I really want to go with manual hubs.So my Question is if I convert to manual will my 4wheel drive work without taking off that motor and cleaning it?

If the hubs are the reason the 4x4 isn't engaging, it should fix it. If the transfer case (TC) motor is not engaging the transfer case, changing the hubs will not have an effect on the problems at the TC.

To see if you hubs are the problem select 4x4 high on the switch and when the light comes on, have someone
watch the driveshaft while you move slowly. If the driveshaft turns the motor is not your problem, its the hubs. However if the driveshaft does not turn, then you need to replace your motor (providing there are not a million noises coming from your transfer case because it has come apart).
