auto meter gauge light wiring

hey i wired up an auto meter trans temp gauge no problem
but don't know where to connect the light wire to .
It says to a switched source,
can anyone explain how to do it? or point me to a thread tha explains how to do it.
I'm terrible with electrical thanks

You want to tap the light wire into another wire under the dash that only receives power when the headlights are on. That way the gauge only lights up when the other gauges are illuminated. So get a tester and look for wires under the dash that don't normally have power but receive power when you turn the headlights on. Also get some of these type of connectors. It allows you to splice the light wire into the existing wire without cutting it.
