What is involved in converting from auto to manual hubs? Would it possible to do it in my home garage?

We should probably make this a sticky link, many of the most common asked questions are answered here.

It just involves buying the spindle nut conversion kit and the manual hubs. With that you'll have everything to do the swap in about an hour. Well, it took me a little while longer to do the first side cause I didn't know what I was doing, once you get it down, the other side will take 10 minutes. Real easy...

I changed my in the backyard. I suggest you also inspect the outer universal joints. Mine were so rusted they wouldn't tilt by hand.

I have a write-up with pics on my website. www.4x4ord.com. Go to repairs/mods

Real easy. Left side 3-4 hours, right side 10 min. :D
