hi Guys... just need your help where can I find what type of Auto Transmission I have on my Ford Explorer 1997 SOHC V6...?

is there any Tag or stamped or engraved on the housing...? (can you tell us where?)

I tried to go under but cannot see a tag and a lot of mud under so It would be nice to know the exact location so I don't have to take off my bash plate and clean the whole transmission....

cheers guys....:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::salute:

The 4.0L uses the 5R55E transmission.

Oh I see, thank you! because I have called my local ford dealer and gave him my VIN number and he says there's two options for my Explorer and he is not sure unless I have a look under and check just to make sure...

may I ask what is 5R44E for...?

thank you!:salute:
