Anyone who has the Auto Ventshades that go on the inside channel of your windows, and has a 4 door. Have you ever had the back windows get stuck open? When I open the back windows the ventshades get in the way and prevent the glass from closing, any one have this problem, or have suggestions to help fix it??

lol happens to me all the time. Mine kinda fixed themselves though. Even if they do get stuck open its not to bad because nobody can tell and rain doesn't get in.

Mine do it every now and then, I fixed the problem by installing new 3M two sided tape. The problem was that the tape wasnt holding the ventshade to the door tight enough. When I installed the new tape, I used a 1/8th inch spacer around it so that it would be tight against the door frame. Its kinda hard to explain, let me know if you dont understand what im sayin :)

I never had a problem. Maybe it's the brand?

I had this problem with my old ones. You need to follow the directions very carefully when installing them.
Clean the felt coating out of inside the window track with the scotch pad and clean well with alcohol. They will not adhere well if you dont do this, hence your problem. I fixed my old ones by pulling them out and installing new tape on em.
The ones on my new X work perfect, and are solidly in place.

I had the same problem, I just clipped the corner off so it quit catching it....

i used 2 ton epoxy to hold mine in. those things are never going to move again! put it on the corner giving you problems, and put up the window, it will dry in a few hours.

I put new tape in the corners also and have not had a problem sense

i just saw an add for one made by egr... it is in a magazine for businesses and retailers... says "SAVE THE TAPE FOR YOUR PACKAGES! NOT YOUR TRUCK'S WINDOWVISORS" EGR's Tapeless Slimline Windowvisors

I had the driver side front come loose and glued it back in with weather strip adheasive.

1) I tried the "EGR Tapeless type" on my wife's Expedition. The VERY thin plastic that sits in the channel was so fragile it broke into 3 pieces the first time the window went up! I ordered once again and the new ones came cracked already!!! Forget that stuff!?!
2) I installed the rear window tape type also. At first it seemed that the tape would not hold well, and the windows got caught going up. I made sure the channel was cleaned very well, then installed the visors with the tape. I left the windows up for a week. The visors are in very tight, don't catch the window, and appear to be permanent.

Do as everyone says, use new tape, clean well, and leave the windows up for awhile to let the tape cure in place. Good luck.

They have clips for ya to install directly below your visor. Call AutoVentshade for them. They're free.

Bad on old Ex. Good on new Ex.

I'ts just the brand i think.

Never had a problem with Autoventshade. I've used thm on 4 different vehicles and they were always perfect.

Thanks for all the replys guys!! I also would like to know more about the clips becasue I will probably try calling the number to see if I can get any of these clips. If I can get this to work it will probably be the best solution. Just so you know, I did use the scruff pad and the alcohal that came in the kit. If that doesn't work, then I think that I might try the 2 ton apoxy(sp) that FourXFred suggested, along with clipping a little bit of the edges.

FourXFred - is there anything specific that I should ask for when I go to HomeDepot to pick up the epoxy?

Common problem. Caused by common improper installation. How do I know? Been there, messed up, had to fix it. :o

When you put the windows up for the first time to hold them in place while the adhesive dries, you need to push the windows up by hand. They won't go all the way up themselves because the rear window motors are weaker than the front motors. They will look like the went all the way up, but if you push them up by hand they will go up another 1/2".

The first time I installed a set, I didn't push the windows up by hand because it looked like they went up all the way by themselves. Tried to put the window back up the next day and it hit the visor. Got pissed, called the company. They sent some clips and they worked just fine. Eventually an idiot leaned against my truck and put his weight on the visor, so it broke off. Used new tape to install again, but had a genius idea to push the window up by hand to make sure they went all the way up. To my surprise, they went up farther. Let the adhesive dry with the windows all the way up, and never had another problem with them since.

I had mine on my explorer for the past 3 years and it just started happening recently. I guess i should just call them and explain the problem and they should send me some clips. Does anyone have any pics of these clips so i can see what they will look like on my ex?

I've had mine for years with no problems. Did you keep the windows up for a full 3 days after you installed them?
