Automatic climate control to manual?

I have a1995 Limited that came with all of the bells and whistles, including automatic climate control. Well it appears that is acting up and I was wondering if it is possible to replace the automatic switch in the dashboard with a manual switch/ Will it require changing some connectors?

How is it acting up? Fan not running? Intermittent fan?

fan on high only? you can convert it to the manual controls, but you're gonna need all the bits and pieces from a donor vehicle, including the ballast resistor and no doubt you're going to need to modify the wiring and connectors. not worth the effort in my opinion. what are your symptoms?

I plan to replace the resistor because I am certain that has gone kaput and I have checked all fuses and wiring that I can reach. The fan does not work AT ALL but when I hotwire the fan motor to the battery, the fan operates.

if you have the automatic HVAC controls the part is not called a blower motor resistor, but is called the blower motor control module. what's the difference? about $45. the module lives in the same hole in the heater plenum.

blower motor

The motor brushes sometimes go out. With the EATC turned on, you can tap on the motor cover and sometimes make it go. If it does, just replace the motor. If not, it could be the fan speed control module mounted in the fan housing. (To keep the transistor cool.)

As I said before, the blower motor functions when hot wired directly to the battery so I do not see brushes as being the culprit. Thanks for your input.

Replace the blower control module. Check Rockauto, they might have the part.
