I have the JBL cassette sound system with the amp/stereo in the right rear by the sub. I've tried a Bluetooth/FM transmitter to play music from my phone but the volume level is weak. To equal "15" on regular radio stations or cassette, I have to turn it up to "35" (max) when playing on the FM/BT adapter and it sounds pretty poor. That's with the phone and transmitter turned up to full.

I see there is an Aux-in adapter for the CD changer plug. Does anyone know if the CD changer was an option on the 1995 Eddie Bauer? I don't see a plug like that under my console, only one that looks like a phone jack (RJ-11) which I have no idea what that's for.

If that's not an option, I may try one of the adapters that plug into the antenna cable.

Any other suggestions are welcome. I'm not quite ready to drop money on a new head unit, though I know that would be my optimal fix!

Thanks!

I suspect you just have a poorly designed BT product and a different one will work better. I'd pick a few on Amazon with a lot of reviews and start reading those.

I know nothing about the aux inputs on your stereo, but if it does have an aux input, you should be able to wire up a 3.5mm jack to it. On some wiring diagrams I see that as "CD Left (+), CD LEFT (-), and same for the right. The curious thing is it has separate wires for left and right ground "(-)", when technically I can't think of any reason it needs that, since this is just a line level signal, not having to handle any significant current.

I'd use a multimeter to see if the left/right "(-)" are just tied together grounds and if so, combine them on a 3.5mm headphone style jack for input.

Anyway I have a few wiring diagrams for different stereos in a '98 if they're of any use, linked in my sig to download, they are files named "sound-system-"*****

I'd recommend those cassette adapters, the sound quality is surprisingly good - surely better than a FM adapter.
