it means only 1 wheel spins in low traction situations,
inside the differential there just are gears, set up so the power goes to the wheel with the least amount of traction, which is why you will see cars and trucks spinning only 1 wheel
the other option is a limited slip with gears and little clutches that spread the power between the 2 back wheels giving more traction,
