Axle codes.

[Blue Ranger]

Does any one know what the rear axle code R6 tells me. I know it is 3.73 with LS, but I haven't been able to find this axle code listed anywhere. It is on a 94 Ranger 4x4 with the 4.0 V6. I know it is an 8.8, but how many splines and what is the width?

8.8 on Ranger = 28 spline

Dunno about the width, as I recall a Ranger rear is 2" narrower than an Explorer.
