Wondering if you fellas can ID if this axle is 31 or 28 spline or if it's from an Explorer, ranger or F-150...
Looks like it might be SOA... Ranger then?
Did rangers have 31 spline 8.8's in 1990?
If I decoded the casting # correctly, it's a 1990 housing
Seller thinks it has 4.10's and some type of locker (LS prolly)

I would've loved to find one with discs but for the price, I wasn't gonna pass on it. Any info appreciated

f150 i belive cause it has the shock mounts welded to it although rangers may be the same way. but it looks the exact same as my friends 1995 f150

That bolt pattern also looks bigger than 4.5". Looks more like 5.5", which would make it F150.

Another Chicago area member!

Just becasue it's an F0TW part code doesn't mean it's from a 1990 vehicle. But, the probability is good. If you're friendly with your local Ford dealer's parts person, have 'em run the part number. They should be able to tell you what vehicle(s) it was available on.

I'm a little leery of the "never been installed" claim. I see lots stuff at my local Ford dealer that was replaced under warranty that looks great (recently, five 8.8 pumpkins out of 3rd Gen. Explorers). My dealer packs them up using the same plugs/pins/etc. to make them look like they just came from the factory (for return shipping). Hopefully, you didn't buy a bum axle that's been sitting (however, for $50 I guess it's not that big of a deal). Good luck with your new parts and I'm hoping you took advantge of the $20 "delivery special".

Dave.
