I posted a thread a couple days ago about a seized caliper. I pulled the wheel off today and found that the four wheel drive hub had spun its way out of the wheel (as in rim), the four wheel drive gears were torched, the entire brake system was destroyed, the wheel bearings where shredded, and the axle shaft gear had been totally gouged. The only thing holding the front tire on was the two aluminum slide pins that hold the caliper in place. Does anyone know if this is fixable? Does the axle shaft only serve the purpose of four wheel drive? If so, can I simply install a new rotor, loaded caliper and wheel bearings? I don't understand how the brake system goes together. The rotor had the wheel studs attached, which I've never seen before. How does the rotor stay attached to the spindle? Is it from the wheel bearing? Has anyone ever had experience with this type of serious overhaul? If I can't fix it, I think it's junkyard time. That's too bad. It was a good truck and I got 200,000 miles out of it!
