I have installed a baby seat in my 06' EB but the top of the seat hits the head rest. And you can't remove the head rest on that row. SO i have installed the car seat with the seat reclined a bit so it sits flush on the baby seat. Does anyone have any other suggestions here to avoid reclining the seat?

Could you get a picture of it? Which seat is it?

I do not believe that reclining the seat a hair is going to put your baby at risk. I mean the front seats tilt back and that is safe for us. The safety of your child relies on how well you strap the child seat in. I weigh 300 lbs, and I get in the back seat and I kneel in the baby seat and bounce down on it while I tighten the seat belt. It doesn't budge after I do this. Most children are hurt in accidents because they are not strapped into the restraint seat correctly. Most of the time, you can stop by your local firehouse and ask them to check the seat. Bring baby along for the fit.

its the Graco myride65. and yes i don't think it will hurt at all either. i had my firefighter neighbor help me with the install and he was baffled the head rest would not come off, but we did recline the seat, he actually sit in it and him and I both pulled on the strap to tighten it down. so hopefully its all good. she will go in a test run of it tomorrow!

i think the headrest does remove but they made it complicated to take, you have to use a paperclip or something cause there is like hole under the ring when i google instructions for this, but i never tried it... i would check with the ford dealer how to do it

In my '06 the seat hits the headrest too, but it's not that bad, more like just resting up against it. How do you recline the rear bench?

i assume u mean the third row seat because the second row headrests are removable. kind of a pain in the ass, but doable.

Paper clip or a sewing needle is needed to poke the little hole in trim ring where silver headrest post goes into seatback. might help to have someone pull up while you do this. I removed one of mine in summer of 2006 and never put it back. Wish the third row came off though. They realy block my view and the kiddie heads are no where near them

STIC - O... The same lever that you pull to fold the second row down will recline if you push back rest back while pulling lever.

Good deal, wife is on explorer today, but will give it a try once she gets home!

I just recline the seat, car seat is as tight as could be and is level.

I tried that...It no Workie:( Maybe because I don't have a 3rd row? :dunno:

Yes it works! took a small nail, pressed into the two hold on the side of the bottom pieces of head rest and it popped right off, Thanks for the advice!

I am soooo glad I read this post today. I've had my seats reclined to accommodate both the car seats. Which meant I couldn't raise the 3rd row. So EVERY time I wanted to take another passenger, I would loosen the car seat, bring the seat up, and raise the 3rd row seat, recline seat again, tighten car seat. Then repeat to bring the 3rd row seat down.
PROBLEM SOLVED! Thank you!
