Has anyone got any idea as to how to protect the leather seating from being damaged from a baby car seat? I will soon have to install one of the new LATCH type car seats but am somewhat concerned as to what it may do to the leather seats.
Thanks

Be sure to clean them and protect. Then use a big towel and fold it over a couple of times. This will keep spills, crums and sharp corners off of the leather.

A big, thick towel works wonders. It'll do everything described above and you can just remove it and wash it when needed.

Ya buy the pad.. or use the cheep way and use a towel

how about buying the cheapo local auto parts store neoprene seat covers... they are only like $30 and are padded, and water resistant... and you will have full seat coverage

That's a good idea. I'm getting ready to install this mod in my X and my Toyota.

Does calling a baby seat a mod make me a bad person?

no... being a father should be a major thing.. i would be angry with you if you didnt call the baby seat a mod :)

My parents used a big bath towel to over one of the captain chairs in our minivan since it's a leather seat. A pad isn't a bad idea either but I think the towel is the cheapest way to go...it's free (since you have some in your linen closet anyway) and when it's dirty, wash it.

I am putting in a piece of berber carpet and a towel underneath it. Last time around I got wear marks from the seat. I am also puting in extra straps into the back deck for extra holding power for the seat. you cant be too safe. When are you guys due? We are on Feb 12 , a boy.

Congrats!!!

Having a metal framed baby seat on my rear leather seat i found a towel stopped crap but not the re-shaping & stretching of the leather .
Use a bit of carpet it stops the sliding around as well

March 14th, also a boy.

Mines March 30th, 2003 also a boy

Including you two, I now know 17 people having babies between Feb 13th and Mar 30th. Ther must have been something in the air.

Thanks for the advice.
And just for the stats: also due March 20 2003
