back door not opening

yesterday i went to pop open my back door and it sounded as if something broke, now the handle has no tension on it and my back door wont open. i pulled away some of teh molding and it looks as if whatever was suppose to pop the door was broken and no longer connected. is there a cheap fix for this or something i have to go to a shop or dealership for?

Are you talking about the tailgate or a rear side door?

im talking about the tailgate in the back

I had the same thing happen to mine, ended up needing an actuator. My stereo guy replaced it for me(alot cheaper than dealer). Without knowing what "broke", can't be sure if you can just reconnect for a fix. It's pretty tight up there but if you can, lock and unlock while you look at the actuator to see if that's the problem and go from there.

try just pressing the unlock button like 5 times in a row and try opening it. me and my friend both have to do this with our explorers...

no luck....it looks like the actual actuator has broken completely....
