This just started to happen, When I let off the gas doing about 55 it feels like the back tries to lock up. At first I thought I ran over something but I let off the gas again and it did it again.

What could it be? it sounded expensive!

Could it be the Universal joint or Diff?

Looking for ballbark figure to fix

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like slip yoke or u-joint

The only way I can discribe it is that the backend seems to grab and then I apply the brake and it goes away.

Any idea of price to fix it?

ok, with that...sounds like a u joint... is it bad when accelerating from a stop?

You can change it yourself for about 15 bucks or take it someplace for about 75:)

I have not experienced it from a stop to acceleration.
(Not yet)

Is it easy to replace?

Replacing a u-joint is very easy.Have you got under the truck and checked it?If you have a vise it will make it real easy.Probally about a hour total to do it,and while you are under there you can grease the slip yoke too:D

I am new to this when it comes to Auto repair I am dumb as a box of Rocks! Where can I find the U Joint and the Yoke?

Once you have the driveshaft off you can grease the slipyoke, the drive shaft has four bolts that you will have to take off that attaches the driveshaft to the rear axel.8 times out of 10 the back u-joint goes bad before the front one does. You should be able to have all this done at a shop for under 75:)

Thanks for the assistance!
