Back up lights, a new twist.

i've seen those hi watt bulbs similar to an H1. i didn't buy them 'cause of the heat they emit. i've tried fog lights for back ups but they have a flat beam to them. that is fine when mounted low but when mounted high up the beam is just too narrow. i've now got lights that have a "flood" pattern to them and i can see a whole lot better when backing up a trailer. the ones i have on 2 trailers are round tractor lights and on my crewcab and bronco ll they are rectangular. my explorer is getting some sooon. the flood pattern is for close range and make for good work lights. where-as the fog gives off that flat pattern that is much farther away.
for snow plowing i tried flood lights on big magnets that i just popped onto the hood but the reflection of the heavy snow made it difficult to see so i switched to a 5 3/4" round bosch 60/55 hi/low and that works great (except for the bird's nest of wires and relays under the hood).
check with local laws before adding extra lights. i know here western canada we are only allowed to have backup lights that work when the vehicle is actually put into reverse. however....i put a tiny radioshack buzzer on mine so i don't forget to shut 'em off.
max. height here is 72".

happy ho ho ho and merry knew yearz
