Back up sensor acts funny

My '04 Explorer back up sensor acts kinda funny....I've had my Explorer for almost a year now, i bought it used, and came with no owners manual.

When i back it works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. Then sometimes it just does one steady beep. The back bumper had a few dings on it ( i dont think the person who had it before me could back up), but nothing too bad.

Anybody have any ideas? Its really fustrating and i need it to work sometimes, and i have no owners manual to turn to.

I am guessing that your sensor(s) are probably bad.
