2002 ranger xlt
i have a 2002 ranger xlt, when i start the truck, there is clicking coming from the 4wd control module, even when the 4wd selector is in 2wd. tried to put it in 4wd the other day, nothing, heard the random clicking coming from the module, turned the knob to 4wd, it engaged. i figure the module is going bad, but just wondered if anyone has had the same problem, and any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would like to suggest you check your voltage that is going thru the dash switch and grounds. Are you getting a voltage to the shift motor and is it operating properly?

bad 4wd module

i found out that after the truck warms up, interior wise, the module works fine, restarted the truck after it warmed up, and the lights in the dash lit up like they are supposed to, 4wd high and low worked fine, i ordered a new module yesterday, im not taking any chances with the white stuff right around the corner, ill post with the results as soon as i get them, thanks everyone for the replies, i really do appreciate it.

bad 4wd module ?

I replaced the module yesterday and it fixed the problem, 4wd lights work when you start the truck as they should, and no more clicking from the module. thanks to everyone who responded to my post.

the part number is TM-101, there are other numbers on the box under these, they are.. 1L5Z-7E453-AC shift control module, this is for a 2002 ranger xlt, 4.0 automatic, the dealership told me there were a few different module numbers, for different engine/transmission combinations.
