bad alternater bad everything ?

1994 ford explorer xlt
after finding a bad alternator problem was my first problem then a batt that wouldnt charge and stuck relay i moved to replacing most of the sensors in the truck as well as already at full tune up my question now is it possible that the brain needs new parts ? i opened up thinking there might be a blown cap but relatively it looks great inside no electorlyte from a blown cap or anything

theres a rom a 8000 series processor and some amps tied to the case for cooling
I havnt found a rebuild kit or a way to take the case completely apart as of yet since it looked good i put it back the way i got it but I still would like to know if there are prone failure parts to replace and if a kit is available

ford will replace the entire unit for 159 but if its just a cap Id .......

id install a socket for the rom there seems to be no upgrades other than ford stating theyll give you the latest

taking that rom out and a flash bin would be cool with comment delimited

such as tune for egr delete and such high altitude or ????

Smegun, I'm trying to find the underlying question here... Do you want to modify the 'brain' or are you trying to fix a charging problem, or? I know there are people who have disassembled and modified the CPU code for numerous engine control computers, but don't know of any for the Gen1 Explorer.

the truck runs good intermittently ive changed most of the sensors except for the cam sensor percentage wise better all round .... the truck shows signs of running normally but my feeling is that it may be getting retarded rather than just staying in the optimum
im going to change out the syncro next

does anyone know what is prone for replacement or that if there is a rebuild kit for the unit anyone have a component list to order from mouser

200 cold cranking amp what 1 zener some creramic coated caps two electrolytics and the amps are tied to the case and a access port for ??? noted that there are some piggy back chips on the market but havnt found one that matches up with this vehicle its missing a bridge to obd2 that port looks good who has the beef on a cable and reader

I get a 111 on the KOEO KEY ON ENGINE OFF TEST but cant make out what the run time test is telling me

I like the old bios too format hard, hard drive test, 0 the drive , interrupt blocking, ram tweaking ignor F1, edge trigger, peak trigger , EUFI is neet too but where are the utils ........ clipping util return from DRQ , Poly test, the last computer I bought was without the northbridge

Dude i think you need some help with punctuation and grammar before we can even understand what the heck you are talking about. I seriously don't know what you are asking us, it seems like you are talking to yourself.

Your question started with the charging system and morphed into who knows what. So you changed the alternator and the battery correct? Why do you feel that the truck is not running correctly?

I asked if there was any know prone problems with the ECM or a rebuild kit your the one telling me about after market programs and un availability

right the place for the rom is in the control box and its not socketed but there is a edge connector for a monitor cable ?????? to see and correct control

I used to work on capacitive discharge systems for the medical field I think I know where your goings I havnt found a knock sensor or anything sim yet is there one on the 94

sensors are forcing the truck to detune yes 25 percent fixed somthings I havnt replaced cam sensor and syncro and parts in brain where is the knock knock joke

The middle age generation has to remember back to DOS and what it is and how it works AND the current generation has no idea what DOS is. So never one of them can help. The middle gen can not remember it and the current ...........wellllllllllllllll
 






considerably better all round with tune up pieces and sensors the brain seems to be setting up

anyone send there brain back to ford ????? there official division for sending the brain in describes latest flash and rebuild but I don't see any one commenting on flash helping octane although its possible that they have upgraded the flash

kind of a pain to desolder and replace a 40 pin id do it if there is word about octane program change IMPORTANT and the current program available someone post

described ping without 91 octane sounds fishy


to note dos is a higher level lang Machine lang would be closer to push and pop of a bios dos would assume that a buzz word or script could change parameters probly ......more like hex changes have to be made to the lines associated with air fuel mix and such more closely related to assembly lang or exception in the stack up .... the step through of the machine lang in bios takes cake for whats next on exceptions from sensors and such Id be surprised if that little bugger 80.s proc steps through dos after posting .. he ha .............. My 80 Tbird used a brain box it was twice as big and heavy inside it looked more like a ton of resistors inside it was physical switching probably ..there the differences in switching set the mode of the mix im not shure if It was even TTL he ha .......
