2003 Ford Explorer EB 4.6
Hi all, hoping for some assistance diagnosing a problem that recently started with my 2003 Explorer, 4.6l Eddie Bauer.

Its got 187,000miles, oil changed a couple months ago, last month put in a Wix air filter and used MAF cleaner on the sensor as usual routine.

The problem is the engine will stall when left at idle long enough. I thought it might be the fuel filter since I've never changed it, only when this happens eventually the battery discharges past cranking power. The battery is an Optima red top, about 3 years old. I turned off my radio, dashcams, fans, no heaters running, lights off. With a voltage meter on the battery it will show over 14.3 volts running, and when it dips like it wants to stall, it goes 13 or 12 volts. If I keep the engine revved it seems to prevent stalls. I'm suspecting it might be the alternator.

Here is a video to see what is happening, 2 minutes long, you'll see the random dips in power are pretty random. Any ideas? I'll also note when I had the battery freshly charged the meter showed 14.7 by the time I filmed it was at 14.39 and down to 14.35 at the video's end. Maybe the voltage regulator going out?

Appreciate any assistance,

Best regards!
