hey all last weekend i cleaned the bater psot.. i just looked under the hood today and there is white corosion on the + side battery post... what ur ideas as why it came back so fast (about a week now)? im think is an older battery but if its a charging issues then i need to look into it, if its just the battery i already plan on replacing it in afew days

could be a loose connection. try tightening everything if you have not yet done so. have you checked the voltage (not running)? the best time to check it is in the morning after a night of rest.

also you could put some dielectric connector protector on it and see if that helps w/the corrosion.

on a side note, if the battery is over 5yrs old, its usually time to change it IMHO, some people think the same, others wont..

i hav tested it with the engine off and turned it on. i will recleaned it and put the protector stuff on it it looks like a older battery but when it running i do get a dip on the volt gauge but it returns to normal... thanks

no prob.

the surge in voltage could be the alt telling you to check it. start the truck, while it's running disconnect the neg battery cable and see if it stalls or surges bad once disconnected.

you can also check the battery by disconnecting the alt connector and see if the battery is strong enough to run the truck on its own. if it does, let it run for a minute or two and see if it dies. if so, the battery is old and needs replaced because it is not holding its charge like it should.

will also do that.. i may just replace the battery anyways the date shows 03/2005.. was in the truck when i got it. i dont have alot of extra things power wise i did replace the oem fog with a set of sheap driving light but havent had and problems until i notice the corosion again

yea i would replace the battery. but having tight terminals is also very important. Id say every 4 to 5 years for a new battery.

wheni first got it i clean the corosion adn repalced the terminals didnt think to chek the age of the battery, but then the corosion can back and i clean it again last weekend now i have it again.. so thats y i ask how come it came back so fast in a week but im looking right now at getting a new one after work thanks guys

sweet! hope it all gets fixed with the new battery

on a side note i dont knoow if im right but i had an idea, would a bad battery cause the truck to surge while idleing? it idles normaly around 500rpm but every now and then it will drop really fast and all most stall but it evens out. if i give it some gas or turn it off and back on it seems to be fine. when it drops the volt gague will go down aways and back to normal with the same rate as the motor. so could it be the battery or what else could this be? its getting really annoying thanks guys

that could be possible, because before i replaced mine it would do something like that.
