i replaced both 02 sensors, my mileage did not improve it seems to have made it worse. does anyone have any suggestions? i have 100k, and have a bad cat that i did not replace could that be the problem or is there another sensor that controls the gas and air flow.

The cat could indeed be a part of the problem. You need to haver all the codes scanned to see what else might be bad.

Good luck.....

do you know of a catalog company or someone close to the detroit area that sells after market parts?

No Doubt About It!!!
Replace the Cat/s and while you're at it I would suggest upgrading the "cat-back". You can do it all yourself in about 1-2 hrs depending on your tools/rust situation.

I replaced the cat with an aftermarket OEM ($80) and installed Flowmaster Force II cat back system ($195). This has been the best upgrade as far as power/mileage that I've done.

*NOTE*>>>Reset the computer after any changes. The air/fuel mixture is controlled by the computer.

i know this is a simple question but whats OEM stand for?

Original Equipment Manufacturer

ok thanks

Basically..If a part or feature of anything is described as 'OEM' it meets the original specifications of said part. This does not necessarily mean the part is the EXACT one originally installed from the factory. Alot of parts are no longer manufactured by the original company.

Hey Oahrens, I was wondering how you like your Force II system. I'm going to be needing a new muffler probably this summer and I want to go with something that will help with the power/mileage and also give a nice sound. How loud is your Force II? What series muffler does it have on it? Any major change in power/mileage? Thanks.

Force II comes with a SUV 50 series muffler. It sounds deep and mellow...but not much louder than stock.

Jim,
I would definatly replace the cats with high flow ones..then get a high flow exhaust (I have borla and like it a lot)

similar problems

I get very poor gas mileage as well...around 11 or 12 in town...i just changed the radiator hoses, the hot water valve and the thermostat and it doesn't run as hot as i think it should, but it runs hotter than it used to because it used to take forever to heat up. is there a way to reset the computer other than disconnecting the battery cable? also my heat doesn't always get hot...I know that it isn't a hose problem because like i said they are all new...could it be my heater core or possibly a problem with the electronic climate control? if anyone has any suggestions i would appreciate them.
