Has anyone installed Moog ball joints on there trucks? I've installed three sets of them on my truck all lasting about 80,000 miles each. What is the life expectancy of a ball joint? I'm getting tired of replacing these things:mad:

I believe all moog ball joints are supposed to be greased. You greased them right? I have 30,000 miles on mine and no problems yet.

Life expectancy depends on how hard you/the road are on them.

Maybe you need new shocks?

All ball joints are greased regularly, road surface is normal in most cases, shocks are new AFCO coilovers (25,000 miles) which are top of the line in the suspension world. Top ones are fine, but the bottom ones don't last for long.

Carlover, maybe your right, but asking more than 80K out of a ball joint is not to much. These things should last at least 100K-120K. Thanks though for your thoughts on the subject guys.

Maybe try a different kind of grease? Only thing that wears them down is friction.

With the design of the front suspension, the lower ball joint takes a pounding. 50,000 miles is good for any ball joint on an Explorer. If you managed to get 80k on them, you're doing good.

of course, now that I think about it, I can't recall when I did the lowers on mine.... They're Moog as well, but I think I did them about a year and a half ago... that's around 50,000 miles I'm sure.
